On May 28th, 2020 Hope Community Capital, Amanda White Consulting, and the Madison Community Foundation presented a webinar on strategies to make progress on your capital raising goals during uncertain times. We covered tips and recommendations for how to navigate various types of funding opportunities and conversations during this unprecedented, challenging time. We discussed operating budgets and capital campaigns, creative ways to engage funders, and emphasized the importance of continuing to move projects (and funding) forward during uncertain times.

Amanda White

Amanda White has been working to advance mission-based small businesses and nonprofits in Madison for nearly 20 years. Since beginning her nonprofit consulting business 7 years ago, Amanda has worked with nearly 30 local organizations to help build their capacity for doing good in our community. Amanda focuses on capital campaign management, annual/major giving, and creative messaging to assist nonprofits of all sizes in achieving their funding goals. Carrie Sanders

Carrie Sanders is the Founder of Hope Community Capital, a national consultancy based in Madison, WI. Carrie works on behalf of her clients to raise diverse sources of public and private financing to bring high-impact projects to fruition, even in uncertain times when the financial markets are volatile and nonprofit revenue sources are shifting. Carrie is a founding board member of the Jubilee Impact Fund, a national impact investing fund which connects investors and social enterprises sharing the goals and values of Christian community development. Carrie is on faculty at Edgewood College in the Social Innovation & Sustainability Leadership Graduate Program where she teaches on topics of community development and social entrepreneurship. Tom Linfield

Tom Linfield is the Vice President of Community Impact at Madison Community Foundation (MCF). At MCF since 2004, Tom has more than 25 years of experience in the non-profit world, focusing on arts, higher education, public television and community grantmaking and grantwriting. In his current role, he coordinates all competitive and field of interest grantmaking, offers capacity building, counsel and facilitation to non-profits, and serves on the leadership team for the Foundation. Previous roles include Training and Grants Director for the National Center for Outreach, Grants Manager for Wisconsin Public Television, and Foundation/Government Relations Manager for Edgewood College. Tom co-chairs the national community foundation Program Officer’s Network (ProNet) and serves on the conference committees of Wisconsin Philanthropy Network and CFUnited 2020. His board service has included the Bolz School of Arts Administration at the UW-Madison, Leadership Greater Madison Alumni Association, The Evjue Foundation, The Henry Vilas Zoo, and Operation Fresh Start. He is a fellow of The Funders Network PLACES program. Tom is fluent in French and German and is a practicing fine artist, exhibiting his sculpture, mosaics and drawings regularly.
