In late 2019, NDSM closed on a $7M NMTC transaction for the expansion of its 1905 campus with new facilities and improved services to serve students in their co-ed primary school and boys’ middle school.
Notre Dame School of Milwaukee is a Catholic school sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. Following in the Christian tradition, Notre Dame fosters respect, responsibility, and sharing of personal talents while preparing students for admittance to a college preparatory high school. In an English and Spanish bi-literate setting, emphasis is placed on leadership skills, critical thinking, and social justice while empowering students to make positive contributions to society. Over 97% of school families participate in the Milwaukee County Parental Choice program and qualify based on income.
Financing for this transaction was used to construct a new building with the following features:
- Critical and innovative learning spaces, including a gymnasium, library, science laboratory, and STEM classroom
- Small group spaces
- New school entrance, atrium, and administrative office
- New staff lounge
- Multi-stalled men’s and women’s restrooms
Renovation of the existing school building included:
- Multi-level elevator and connection between the existing and new buildings to achieve ADA accessibility
- Two additional classrooms
