On September 4, 2025, Stevens Point YMCA closed on an $18 million NMTC transaction, making the creation of a main YMCA site (including a gym, fitness center, childcare facility, lobby, and locker rooms) along with an aquatics facility possible.
Prior to the development of the Stevens Point YMCA, Wautoma County, a rural community with 28,000 residents, had no public facility for youths and teens to engage in recreational activities — sports and non-sports programming alike. More than half of families in this county struggle with affordable and reliable childcare, and the lack of family support negatively impacts job attraction and retention in the county. The community identified a significant need for a community facility like a YMCA, and we saw it come to life with this transformative project.
The opportunity to provide whole-family services and support for seniors will significantly and positively impact the county, its residents, and economic opportunities, particularly in the following areas:
- Childcare and Youth Development
- Family Engagement
- Senior Support
Congratulations to Stevens Point Area YMCA, Bremer Bank a Division of Old National Bank, Forward Community Investments, and Bremer CDE LLC!
